But, no matter which option you choose, you have to organize few things before handing over your assets to the logistics service providers.
Before you start packing, you should make a checklist of things that you are about to take with yourself and things that you will leave on the experts to tackle. Check every nook of your house, closets, wardrobes and drawers carefully to find out whether you have missed anything to add to your checklist.
Take Essential Items With You:
Keep aside the articles you will need during journey. Take out clothes, shoes, toiletries and electronic gadgets that you require and set them aside in a drawer or closet. Do not give these items to the packers & movers.
Keep Aside Expensive and Important Things:
Do not let the packers or movers to handle your valuable items such as jewelries and important papers. You should pack such items separately and take with you.
Take Care of Fragile Things:
You should take special care for breakable items such as crockeries, showpieces and other fragile things. Take out these items from cabinets and keep them aside to pack separately. You must also be careful about liquid things and do not forget to pack them separately as well.
Separate Inflammable Items:
As a precautionary measure, you should distinct combustible items amongst other domestic things. If you do not require taking them with you then dispose them off. Otherwise separately & carefully pack them with you.
After you separate the things you are going to take with you, now its time to some other important tasks. Following is the list of jobs you need to do before leaving your house:
1. Disconnect the phone connection, satellite television connection and gas connection
2. Dispose of foods from fridge that will not be consumed anymore
3. Defrost freezer and fridge
4. Drain out fuels from machine and equipment
5. Send rugs, curtains and heavy covers to cleaners
6. Remove mattresses from beds for packing
7. Wash bed linens and keep aside for packing
8. Make backup storage for files in your computer
9. Remember to takeout CDs from music system or computer
Now, when everything is done, you should call your logistics service provider to ask their confirmed arrival date and time. Finally we can only say that removal is no doubt a hectic venture but it becomes easier when you manage to do it in an organized way.
